A Hampton education is about far more than academic attainment – it seeks to prepare pupils for life. Our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) programme helps pupils think and act for themselves, equipped with appropriate knowledge and an understanding of the wider world. It helps foster a set of personal qualities and values that will help Hamptonians thrive throughout their time at School, and meet the demands of adult life. The curriculum is split into six strands, each overseen by a member of the PSHE department:
- Health & Wellbeing
- Living in the Wider World
- University & Careers
- Digital Wellbeing
- The Hampton Curriculum
PSHE sessions are delivered weekly, primarily by Form Tutors or members of the PSHE department. We are also delighted to welcome a wide range of external speakers, proving expertise on lots of these topics. These talks feature in all six strands, including experts on digital safety, healthy relationships, nutrition, financial literacy and life skills. Senior Hamptonians are also involved in delivering the curriculum to younger pupils.
Our PSHE sessions, alongside a wide-ranging programme of assemblies, workshops and visiting speakers, focus on the fundamental Hampton values of kindness and respect, and emphasise the significance we place upon generosity of spirit, teamwork and consideration for others. These are really important to all of us here at Hampton, and our curriculum lessons and co-curricular programme also promote these fundamental elements of our ethos and culture.
