May cricket continue to flourish and spread its wings. The world can only be richer for it.

Sir Donald Bradman

Hampton School is proud of its cricketing tradition and has excellent cricket facilities. The cricket programme has grown from strength to strength over the past ten years with an increased number of pupils playing cricket. Hampton regularly fields 15 teams across all age groups and also has a flourishing coaching programme to enable boys of all abilities to play.

Every two years the U15 cricketers and First XI squad tour abroad and recent destinations have included Sri Lanka, India, the United Arab Emirates and Barbados. To read more about the recent First XI trip to Barbados click here.

The School’s current fixture list is busy and strong in the summer term and the First XI and U17s compete in the National Cup. All our junior teams compete in the Middlesex and Surrey Cup. The 2025 season saw the U17s crowned winners of their English and Wales Cricket Board competition, and the U13s also lifted their respective English Schools’ Cricket Association trophy. Find out more about the recent success of our U17 team here.

The quality of cricket coaching at Hampton is outstanding, with former first class Ranji Trophy cricketer and ECB level 3 coach Mr Ami Banerjee as Head of Cricket and cricket professional ECB level 3 coach Mr Chris Harrison supported by a strong core of committed and enthusiastic coaches.

A key part of the highly successful cricket programme at Hampton is our Cricket Academy and one-to-one coaching is available to all School cricketers throughout the academic year. An extensive and structured professional coaching programme during the autumn and spring term with high class technical advice on coaching based on cricketing basics plays a key role for our excellent results in summer. We also play indoor league cricket during winter training in order to adapt to any match scenarios.

There are six indoor nets within the Sports Hall and winter coaching benefits from the use of three bowling machines. We have seven outdoor nets and six grass wickets and each junior and senior year group trains at least twice a week. These sessions allow the boys to prepare for their regular fixtures in summer.

Former international and first class players include Akbar Ansari (Cambridge University Captain), Zafer Ansari (Surrey, Cambridge University and England), Toby Roland-Jones (Middlesex and England), Chris Searle (Oxford University and Hampshire), Blake Cullen (Middlesex and England U19) and Naavya Sharma (Middlesex and England U19).
