Welcome to the First Year Blog!

Following the excitement of Modern Languages Week and No Limits Week prior to half term our First Years have been getting stuck in to the co-curricular activities on offer at School. Find out what some of them have to say about their favourite co-curricular activities:

Connor:

The teachers at Board Game Club really get stuck in, and if you get confused about a game, they are always there to help.

Aleks:

Even though I only joined Architecture Club a few weeks ago, I have already learnt how to sketch and this is a very useful skill.

Ollie S:

Art – I really enjoy Art because it is really fun and you are free to do anything you want.

Mikael N:

Lego Robotics – I really like how there is a nice mix of building and creativity but programming as well.

Raphael T:

Drama – You can have some much fun there, just like when Amulya dropped a can of beer and it sprayed everywhere!

Why not try something new as we head towards the Summer Term?

TUTEE OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Alex N who has been awarded Tutee of the Week this week for being involved in all aspects of life and being a delightful young man.

WORLD BOOK DAY

Yesterday was World Book Day and today Hampton School is celebrating with our Second Years dressing up! Did you spot your favourite fictional character around School? All boys have been given their World Book Day Book Tokens. 1B tell us about their favourite books:

Arjun:

Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman is one of my favourites because it’s interesting to see the differences in that world in comparison to our world.

Pablo:

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas because it tells a real story and I found it an interesting twist that the general’s son ends up in Auschwitz.

First Year First Term

Some of our First Year boys have been reflecting on their very first term at Hampton. Take a look below and find out what their highlights have been:

SPORTS

It was a clean sweep for our footballers last weekend with four wins against Halliford School. Well done to all those involved! Theo D reports for the U12E team:

We played Halliford School and we won 7-0! We were confident during the match and kept working hard throughout the whole game. Even though we won we still had good fun and were friendly with the opposition at the end of the match.

A huge congratulations go out to all those who played in the U12 Ibstock Place School Sevens tournament on Tuesday, they returned as winners of the tournament! Well done to all the boys involved and a massive thank you to Dr Dixon who coached them so superbly.

Following a wet week our U12 Football fixtures against St John’s School have been cancelled. Good luck to our U12B Rugby team playing The Harrodian School this weekend. Fingers crossed it stays dry!

Hampton UnsUNG Heroes

Our School Captains are celebrating Hampton’s unsung heroes. Those staff who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, helping to make Hampton a great place to come to school. Have a look at what Mr Hunt, one of our Groundsmen, does every day to make sure that our sports pitches look so fantastic.

ANSWER TO LAST WEEK’S RIDDLE

RIDDLE OF THE WEEK (Of sorts)

Can you solve our this week’s fiendish riddle?

If you have me, you want to share me. If you share me, you haven’t got me. What am I?

Come and tell Mrs Halford what the answer is and she will award you with Merits in the Biology office!

Have a great weekend!
