Welcome to the First Year Blog!

You’ve made it to the half term break! It has been a busy week and it has been evident from the tired faces that the First Years have worked very hard to prepare for and complete all the assessments; congratulations on finishing your first exam week everyone! The First Year pupils certainly deserve a break, and it has been great to hear about the many exciting plans for the week ahead, and it sounds like many of you will take the opportunity to have some rest as well! Whatever your plans for the half term break, I hope you all have an amazing time and we look forward to seeing you back for the final half term of First Year!

SUBLIME SPORT

This week wasn’t all about assessments, as the First Years had not one but two sessions of Sport this week! On Monday the highly competitive Interform Athletics competition was won by 1W – congratulations! On Wednesday, it was time for some more relaxed sport without interform points at stake – Shishir V (1J) tells us more:

On Wednesday morning, we went to the fields to play some cricket, tennis or rounders. I was doing rounders, not expecting much, but finding it to be a very enjoyable sport. We played 3 games in total. We batted, we ran, and we fielded, trying hard to win, but unfortunately losing every time. Nevertheless, we laughed as we hit and had fun.

PROJECT EXPLORE FINALISTS

The Project Explore finalists had a lunch on Monday where they got the opportunity to present their projects to Dr Hendry! Well done to everyone who completed a project – I hope you enjoyed your visits and completing your projects!

GOING DOWN TO DORSET

This weekend, 30 First Years will travel down to Dorset with the Adventure Society for an adventurous weekend of canoeing, climbing, abseiling and a mud trail! With lots of sun forecast this should be a very enjoyable weekend – enjoy your time in Dorset, adventurers!

TUTEE OF THE WEEK

Every week, the First Year Tutor team nominate a boy who they have been particularly impressed with, and Mr Hill and Mrs Peattie provide him with a football to use on the fields for the week!

This week’s tutee of the week is Elijah T (1L) as Mrs Minchin, Mr Hill and Mrs Peattie have been impressed with the his excellent attitudes towards all aspects of school life – well done, Elijah!
