It has been a busy final week of this half term for the First Year boys and it is much to their credit that so many of them have managed to maintain positive standards of behaviour and kept working hard right up until the final bell!
Pens Down Day
One highlight of the week was the inaugural ‘Pens Down Day’. It was lovely to hear the boys’ stories of all the fun things they did, including speech-making, creating travel adverts, freeze-frame projects on their iPads and some fun card games! The boys seemed to have a fantastic time and we hope that it is an event that they will continue to enjoy as they move up the School.
Sports Report
It was great to hear that the Under 12 Basketball team have qualified for the Richmond School Championships. Thank you to Caleb L (1P) for his excellent match report:
On Tuesday, the Hampton U12 Basketball Team travelled to Richard Challenor School for a battle to qualify for the championships.
Match 1 – The first match was against Richard Challenor. After a tiring first third the squad were down by 8-4 after 2 breaks from their star player. After the second third the score dramatically increased to 20-4. However, the squad managed to pull it back to 20-14 before the final buzzer went off.
Match 2 – Next the team were up against Christ. The first third ended at 4-4 and the second held the score line at 12-6 to Christ. The team fought back but could not squeeze the final point, leaving the final score at 14-12 to Christ.
Match 3 – The next match was played expecting to win. After being beaten 30-0 by Christ, the team were expecting an easy win. However, they put up a good fight but overall Hampton won 12-8 to qualify for the championship.
tutee of the week
A massive well done, too, to Savan S (1J) who is this week’s Tutee of the Week. He raised £54 for Cancer Research and we were all really impressed with the initiative he showed in doing this.
Rock Concert
A huge well done to everyone involved in this fantastic event last Friday – there was lots of fantastic talent on show, including several First Years.
Creative Writing Awards
There’s still time to put pen to paper for this year’s Creative Writing Awards. So get your thinking caps and have a go over half term.
To enter, write a story opening of no more than 750 words and submit a printed version to the English Office by 9am on Tuesday 26 February. You could win a place on a Creative Writing Masterclass with published writer Sara Grant. Book vouchers are up for grabs too, and the winners will have their writing published in this summer’s edition of Lion Print, Hampton’s Creative Arts magazine.
More details can be found below:
All that is left to say is that we hope you all have a really happy Half Term and we will see you in a week’s time!
