Firstly, well done to all of the First Year boys this week! They have approached their first exam week at Hampton very impressively, showing great endeavour whilst also managing to maintain good standards of behaviour when letting off steam during break times. Next week, the boys must make sure that they apply themselves in their lessons when they are going through their papers; as the results come in, there will inevitably some highs and lows and boys must try and learn from any mistakes and feel free to come and talk to staff for support if they need to.

As well as exams, the boys have had the time to take part in some exciting sporting competition this week and Inter-Form Athletics on Monday was a real highlight. All of the boys showed great team spirit and Form loyalty and there were some extremely impressive performances. It was fantastic to see some School records being broken. Hayden C got a new hurdles record, finishing his race in an impressive 12.5 seconds and Kieran B-R beat the previous high jump record in a very exciting competition, which saw him finish at 1.50 metres. Well done to both! There were some very impressive team performances in the relay too and congratulations to 1J who were the overall winners.

It was great to hear that a number of the boys made plenty of time to rest and have fun over the half-term break and the coasteering trip certainly sounded like a definite highlight. Xavier Z wrote an excellent report of their time in Dorset:

“A small group of us went on a fun-filled action packed weekend of kayaking, coasteering and rock climbing off the beautiful Dorset coast. The best bits included jumping off cliffs in to the sea, racing against each other in the kayaks and toasting marshmallows over a campfire. The trip was way better than I could have imagined; we never stopped having fun and in between the core activities we played games, got to know each other and just generally had a laugh. The teachers were awesome – in fact it felt more like going away with mates than a school trip. 100000000% worth it!”

Well done to all on a great week and we hope the boys manage to have a restful weekend after a demanding week. It will be business as usual at School next week, with some theatre workshops to look forward to as well.
