It is hard to believe that we are at half-term already! It has been a busy first half of term with lots of music, sport, drama and co-curricular activities taking place. As ever, the First Year boys have thrown themselves into these with gusto and everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves. I have heard of some excellent Tech projects being completed and lots of fun continuing to be had at Board Games Club. Some of the boys are also set to start the half-term break off in a very adventurous style as they head of on the coasteering trip this weekend. We hope that all involved have a great time!

The highlight of the week in First Year was certainly the Project Explore presentation lunch on Thursday. We were absolutely blown away by the quality of the projects this year and it was excellent to see how creatively the boys involved had responded to the brief. We had musical compositions, artistic interpretations, scripts, Top Trumps, filmed reports, creative writing, lego sculptures and more! It was a real treat to be able to spend some time hearing more about the boys’ projects and the inspiration behind them. The boys involved were Matt V, Sam B, Zac C, Ishaan D, Thomas B, Findlay B, Giles M, Monty F, Milo B, James A, Matt L, James G, William G, Tom H, Zaki S-B, Vishal S, Seb P, Dylan R and Oscar M. Well done to you all! The winner was Sam B (1B) for his amazing artistic representation of coffee cups made out of a variety of materials. Congratulations, Sam! Congratulations also to Felix L who is this week’s Tutee of the Week.

The boys certainly seem ready for a break, and it is important that they take plenty of time to rest so that when they return they feel ready to launch into the exams and their last half of term as First Years! On the topic of exams, whilst the boys do need to revise over the break to ensure they are fully prepared, it is important that they remember to keep things in perspective –recalling their PSHE talks on resilience at this stage would be really helpful. We wish them the best of luck, but also really want them to just remember that all they can do is their best.

Happy Holidays from the First Year team!
