GETTING TO KNOW MRS PEATTIE AND MUSICAL AUDTIONS
A much needed, quieter week for the First Years after the excitement of Avon Tyrell last week. Our First Years are in full swing of their first half term at Hampton, having learnt their way around and immersed themselves in all of the co-curricular activities offered at lunchtime. This includes: challenging the cockroaches to navigate a maze in Miss Mimnagh’s Biology club, trying new sporting activities such as rock climbing or karate, and even working on mini projects in Tech club. Mr Barber’s board game club also continues to be a popular choice, and a great opportunity for boys to meet pupils from other forms.
LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEARS…OH MY!
Auditions for the Lower School Musical, The Wizard of Oz, are taking place next week. This is a spectacular event that happens every other year with Waldergrave School. Auditions will be running at Hampton on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 October from 4 – 5.45pm. Audition packs can be found on Firefly under the Theatre Trips and Productions section of the Drama area: https://hamptonschool.fireflycloud.net/drama/theatre-trips-and-productions
GETTING TO KNOW YOU
This week, members of the 1H have come up with some questions that they wanted to ask Mrs Peattie.
Why did you choose Hampton to teach at? I liked the ethos at Hampton School.
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I was at Birmingham University where I studied History and History of Art. In my spare time at University I showed school children around The Barber Institute (an art gallery which was on campus). I absolutely loved this and it made me realise I wanted to go into teaching.
What’s your favourite memory at Hampton? We used to run a Sixth Form History trip to Florence and Venice and I always loved taking the Sixth Form into the Medici Chapel and then seeing in the flesh the Gozzoli’s fresco ‘Procession of the Magi’. They were always completely gobsmacked by how incredible it was.
What position did you start at when you were teaching? Teacher of History
What’s your favourite drink? Freshly squeezed orange juice, always a weekend treat in the Peattie house!
Favourite food? A Cornish steak pasty, but has to be homemade with puff pastry- not bought!
Favourite film? Cool Runnings
Favourite book? Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
Next week we will be interviewing Mrs Ziegler, if you have any questions you would like to ask her email them in to Miss Barnes.
