Welcome to the Third Year Blog!

Hang on a minute… it’s the final Third Year blog of the spring term! Where has the time gone? The boys have certainly been making the most of being back in School and there’s lots to report, so read on!

Heads of Year Message

Third Year Progress Assessments

Advanced notice that Third Year Progress Assessments will take place during the week commencing Monday 24 May (the week before half term). Please can we emphasise that we do not expect or advise that boys revise over the Easter holiday. Subject teachers can guide pupil revision during the (relatively long) first half of the summer term.

LFD testing

We were very pleased (once again) with the calm and orderly approach to LFD testing in School on Monday afternoon. Boys should now be proceeding with the programme of self-administered LFD testing at regular intervals at home. Please follow the guidelines sent via SchoolPost from Mr Woods on Thursday 11 March, titled “Lateral Flow Device – arrangements for home testing”.

Vaccinations

Teenage booster vaccinations will take place in School on Monday 22 March for all Third Years. The School Nurses wrote to parents via SchoolPost on Thursday 11 March with details and the vast majority of consent forms have been returned. Please can we ask that any outstanding consent forms are completed and brought to school on Monday?

Co-curricular activities:

Boys should continue to listen for Form Tutors announcements, check their emails and the digital screens around school for information about co-curricular activities. Many are now back up and running in Year Group bubbles.

Third Years enjoyed their Interform Football and Rugby Fixtures on Thursday. More on that below.

Third Years will have access to the sports hall on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes next week for Badminton, Table Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball sessions. Any boy wanting to take part should bring a pair of trainers.

Boys – well done for your impressive approach this week. Please keep it up until the end of term. As always, let us, your Form Tutors or the relevant subject teachers know if you are having any difficulties.

Best wishes

Miss Smith & Mr Rigby

Drama iMovie Competition

The Drama Department have been running an iMovie competition during our recent e-Hampton experience. Pupils from all year groups were invited to take part and met with Mrs James and Mrs Plowman on MS Teams to learn about filming and editing techniques, whilst having the opportunity to discuss their creative ideas.

Mrs James and Mrs Plowman congratulated all the Hamptonians who entered the competition:

It has been a joy to watch all the entries, and the effort the boys have put into their films has been excellent. Particularly interesting was how pupils all interpreted the theme of Hope differently.

Many congratulations go to Joe C who finished second overall in the competition with his fantastic movie, which you can watch here:

Amazing Artwork!

Our Third Year boys really are a talented bunch. Don’t believe me? Well take a look at these imaginative pieces of artwork inspired by pages of text from a variety of novels, all created in the style of artist Tom Phillips. Impressive work boys – I can’t even draw a stick man straight!

Question of the week!

Big congratulations and merits awarded to Louis S, Omer D, Ben T, Matthew P, Will Y, Tristan T, Jack R, Ishan P, Avinash G and Rajat M who correctly answered the three sports questions from last week’s blog. The answers were Table Tennis, 7ft and Baseball.
