This week has been science week at Hampton.  There was an opportunity for the potential vets in the Third Year to find out lots more about life as a vet as we were joined by a practising vet from Alphavets in Teddington.  It proved a great opportunity for boys to find out more about veterinary science.  Thanks to Miss Goodman for organising!

Rory Carr (3F) reports that Hampton’s U14 Rugby Sevens team were runners up in the Reigate Sevens. Unfortunately Hampton lost to Wellington College by one point in the last play.  This is a great effort, well done lads!  The team has enjoyed more success this week.  They are through to the second day of the National 7’s competition.  Well done boys and good luck!

The U14A team are also enjoying success, this time in the Surrey Cup.  Jack Madelin (3G) reports that they are playing in the semi finals after Easter against Sir Richard Reynolds.  Good luck to all involved!

We have had news in from Faisal Jumaily (3B).  He reports that the U14B football team played against the U14C’s to wrap up the season’s training sessions. The strongly contested match ended 1-0 to the U14B’s, despite impressive performances from the C’s.Thomas Dwyer (3B) scored what has been described as a ‘jammy goal’ as Alex Raeburn (3C) made a fatal error at the back for the C’s.  Well done to all involved for their efforts in this match and throughout the season as a whole.

Well done to the Hampton Chess 1st team, who beat Wellington Colllege 5-1 in the zone final.  They have now qualified for the national finals.  Koby Kalavannan (3G), who won his match, is very proud of the whole team’s performance.  Good luck for the nationals!

In the hotly contested ESPN Third Year 6 Nations Fantasy Rugby League, Mr Ryan emulated Wales in producing a late surge, scoring the most points for the week with 94.  However, time will tell if, like Wales, he falls ultimately short.  This point haul propelled him from 9thto 6th place.  However, Ollie Aust’s OA XV, Paul Wilkinson’s Paulinho’s Props and Mr Walsh’s “I’ll try if I want to” also scored highly and are currently first, second and third place respectively.  One match left…..all to play for……

In other news, Taran Chawla (3F) is taking his grade 6 singing exam this week.  We wish him luck and look forward to hearing the result.  Joe John (3F) named a newly born puppy Pugdle – it is a cross-breed between a pug and a poodle.  Alexander Saul and Alex Murdoch (both in 3F) completed their karate course and both were awarded a black belt.

And finally, in a slight change in the news gathering system to compile the Third Year blog, each tutor group has appointed a news correspondent who will act as our eyes and ears on the ground!  The following are the News Correspondents who will be supplying the news each week:
