I hope that the many of you who came to Pastoral Forum yesterday had an enjoyable and informative evening.  Many thanks to all of you who attended; we certainly welcomed the chance to share our overwhelmingly positive impressions of the boys during their first six weeks at Hampton.  Mrs Peattie is aware that there is a risk of information overload at these types of events – I’m sure you appreciate now what your sons have been getting to grips with over the past few weeks! – and for this reason the powerpoint presentation will shortly be made available in the Important Documents section of the First Year website page (just scroll down from here to near the bottom). If you have any queries arising from matters raised at Pastoral Forum, or if you were unable to make an appointment, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your son’s Form Tutor or Mrs Peattie directly.

The merit certificate surge is slowly gathering momentum.  This week, congratulations go to Callum Howarth, Luke Trotman, Joe Moylan-Jones, Timmy Lee, Sebastian Abercrombie, Harry Spencer, Tom Shtasel and Arjan Sian – well done boys!

On a similar theme, congratulations go to our Tutee of the week Ryan Carey, who has been particularly helpful, enthusiastic and polite within his form.

Our Football teams were out in force last weekend against Alleyn’s (A and B Teams) and Sutton (C, D, E and F Teams):

Samuel Brewster (U12 A Captain) reports: “Right from the first kick, Hampton made strides with confidence and playing some fantastic, fluent football, forced one of Alleyns’ defenders to accidentally put the ball in their own net; created by a great cross from Ben Robinson. Keeping the pressure up, Hampton scored two more from the decisive Jo Treacy. In the second half Hampton received a lot more challenging play from Alleyns, who got two more goals. Then, with a flash of attacking football, Joe Moylan-Jones anticipated a goalkeeper error and scored a much needed goal to put us back ahead again. The game ended 4-3 to Hampton and a big thanks to Mr Sims (as well as others) for leading our team to the first win of the season.”

Meanwhile the U12B team won 6-1, the U12C team 8-0, the U12D team 5-1 and the F’s managed a creditable 1-1 draw. All in all, an excellent set of reports, keep the goals flying in boys!

Our Rugby captains have sent me their reports of last week’s action against St Benedict’s:

William Aust: “It was a well deserved win over St. Benedict’s. The game was physically demanding but our team rose to the challenge. The rucking that we had focused on in training, started to pay off. After our first try was scored, the team were certainly motivated and hungry for their first win. The second try was scored and Hampton won the game 10 nil. Well done to all of the boys on a great result. I am not sure who was more delighted by the win, the players and our coach Mr. Davieson or the parents? Hopefully, this is the start of a winning streak.”

Ollie Tynan: St.Benedict’s were a very strong team for Hampton’s U12B’s however we played very good rugby coming agonisingly close to scoring on a number of occasions however the opposition kept a lead over us the whole match eventually ending up with a score of 45-0”

I know the boys will be feeling tired this week, please reassure them that this is the longest Half Term of the year, and they can look forward to a well-earned break once next week is completed.
