Well done to all the Third Year pupils who have worked so hard on their HELP projects. The deadline is approaching fast so make sure you are on target and speak to your supervisor if needed. The standards over the last few years have been extremely high so good luck! Last week, Charlie Key (3H) had the fantastic opportunity to meet Lord William Hague, former Foreign Secretary, to discuss his HELP project on Democracy in the Middle East. He had an excellent and informative 40 minute conversation with Lord Hague, in which they discussed many of the problems and the future of the Middle East. It was an amazing opportunity that Charlie will not forget.

At the ROAR Challenge Internal Dragons’ Den held at School today, the presentations were of a very high standard and the judges have taken the unprecedented step of inviting two of our teams to present (although only one will be competing) at the External Dragons’ Den at The Mayfair Hotel next Friday afternoon. The winning team are:
Tomas Dwyer (3B); William Howting (3D); Faisal Jumaily (3B); Tom Randall (3B); and the Runners-up are: Rahul Desai; Jack Humpish; Firas Khalil; William Nyhan (3C); Varun Muralidharan (3C); and Paul Wilkinson (all 3C). The other participants who will be enjoying an afternoon in London supporting their peers are: William Boyce‎ (3A); Jamie Drew‎ (3A); Alexander Fagan‎ (3D); Louis Goodwin‎ (3H); Oliver Heyes‎ (3G); Tom Hudson‎ (3G); Himanish Joshi (3F); Charles Maddox (3A); Ethan Scott‎ (3G); Freddy Short‎ (3H); Ben Stonely‎ (3G); and Dillon Tharumanayagam‎ (3A).

Mr Simms would like to commend Himanish Joshi (3F) and Jack Humpish (3C), along with first years Max Broughton and Alessandro Russell, second years Charlie Sutton, Freddie Rees and Josh Van’t Hoff, for their efforts this week at the Richmond Primary School’s Tri-Golf Competition at Hampton Court Golf Club. In rather hot and sweaty conditions these boys showed fantastic leadership skills in helping to run the tournament. The boys had to run a game each, introduce the rules and encourage the primary school children throughout. Mr Simms was very impressed with how they conducted themselves and received lots of positive feedback from the Primary School’s staff. They all deserve huge credit.

The 3E athletes were disappointed that the John Fisher meet was cancelled this week but are looking forward to the Sevenoaks meet on Saturday. Freddy Hodgson (3A), Ben collier ((3B), Sam Southhall (3H) and Pavit Kullar (3J) won the Achilles relay last Thursday. In doing so they smashed the school record with a time of 9:06. The previous time was 9:43. On the subject of smashing things, Sam’s also been throwing some big tricks at Thorpe Lakes with Hampton’s Wake Boarding Club and last week broke a binding while attempting an outrageous raley!

The Third Year Rowers enjoyed their outing at the Bedford Regatta, even though it was a long day and they were not as successful as they had hoped. The highlight was supporting the B team Quad who got all the way to the semi final! Next up is the Thames Ditton regatta. They are hoping to put in a better performance and are already starting to get mentally prepared for NAT schools. Well done to Jake Emerson and Dom Price (both in 3H), who won the Richmond indoor competition.

In cricket the U14 teams have been enjoying much success. The A, B, and C teams all beat Reeds. The A team also beat Tiffin by 7 wickets on Saturday, and the
B team beat Tiffin by 120 runs. Miles Patience, Louis Goodwin and Dan Finlay (all in 3H) were part of the victorious team who won the Gubby Allen final. Miles captained the team to the win!

Chelsea under 14s footballer Louis Instrall (3H) played in the National cup final in Middlesbrough, but unfortunately lost. Still, a great achievement Louis, well done!

In other news, Ethan Scott (3G) is taking part in the Great Ormond Street Hospital 5k round the Olympic Park this Sunday. He is heroically helping his mother stumble around as, in her own words, her training schedule has been along the lines of ‘zero to hero’ ! Please support them in their fund raising for a great cause.

Adam Wood and Dylan Little (3E) performed with the Swing Band at Garricks Temple on Saturday. Alex Raeburn (3C) was a ball boy in a cup final in which Farnham Athletic played Camberley. Tomas Dwyer (3B) returned confident after his GCSE Spanish reading exam. Apparently he finished the 1 hour paper in just over 20 minutes! We look forward to hearing the result! Finally, Cosmo Liefting-Moore (3C) is apparently annoyed that this blog is always about football….well he knows how to solve that…

Thanks to Makarious Naguib, Robert Morey, Ollie Phillips and Faisal Jumaily for their contributions.
