On 1 and 2 July 2025, Hampton School is holding our Giving Day for the Fitzwygram Foundation. Our goal is a simple but transformative one: to raise as much as we can to support the Foundation and its provision of means-tested Free Places at Hampton School.
For over 460 years, our School community has welcomed families from all backgrounds, leading to Hampton’s reputation as one of the most socially diverse independent schools in London and indeed anywhere in the UK. We wish to continue attracting future Hamptonians of academic and all-round ambition by providing more means-tested Free Places for those who would not otherwise be able to benefit from a Hampton education. Hampton’s distinctive values and ethos – striving for personal best while supporting those around them with kindness and respect – remains at the heart of everything we do. With your support, we can preserve and strengthen this legacy for generations to come.
Join us for Giving Day 2025! Over 36 hours, the Hampton community will come together and make a difference. Through interform challenges, staff vs pupil events, exhibitions, performances, as well as many online challenges, everyone can take part and make their contribution to the Fitzwygram Foundation for Free Places. Help us to ensure that a Hampton education is accessible to all pupils.
Here are some of the activities that are already open:
Anonymous Artist postcard sale
Our first challenge is a creative one: budding pupil artists are invited to submit an A6 postcard for our Anonymous Art Exhibition. Pupil pieces will be exhibited alongside those from our professional alumni and staff artists, including Mrs Williams (Head of Art) and David Lewis OH (1986).
Pick up your postcard from the Art department or Alumni office, and submit your masterpiece by Monday 2 June. Members of the Hampton community will be invited to view the art work online (exhibited at School to staff and pupils on Wednesday 2 July) and make a £10 donation to take a masterpiece home. Hidden amongst the masterpieces will be submissions from professional Artists. Will you take home a piece of art created by an award-winning artist? Or one created by the next Picasso?
Battle of the Bands
The Summer Rock Concert is being held on Tuesday 24 June, and this year will take the format of a ‘Battle of the Bands’ in aid of the upcoming Giving Day. The audience will be given the chance to vote for their favourite band, who will win some music vouchers and the opportunity to play before the Summer Concert at the end of the year.

About Giving Day
What is Hampton Giving Day?
The goal of Giving Day is a simple one: to raise as much as we can for Free Places. On the day we’ll be asking the entire Hampton community to donate to the Fitzwygram Foundation for Free Places. The Foundation is a separate-but-linked charity which has the single, transformative aim of funding Free Places for boys who would otherwise be unable to join our community.
When is Hampton Giving Day?
Giving Day will run from Tuesday 1 July at 9.00am until Wednesday 2 July at 9.00pm.
Why then?
On Tuesday 1 July, the School will mark Founders’ Day, celebrating the many people who have helped Hampton School throughout its history, from our foundation in 1557 to today.
Why should I give on Giving Day?
Every gift will make a meaningful impact, supporting the Fitzwygram Foundation in its mission to raise funds for Free Places. Hampton has always welcomed bright local children from all backgrounds. Our goal is to uphold this heritage and ensure fair access to a Hampton education, and there has never been a more important time to support the Fitzwygram Foundation. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who is helping us to offer a route to Hampton for talented boys without the family means to afford fees. By supporting Free Places at our School, you will help us to nurture Hamptonians who will go on to lead, serve and make a difference for good.
How can I help?
There are lots of ways to help spread the word about and participate in Giving Day.
- Share your support on social media using the hashtag #HamptonGivingDay2025
- Share a message or a memory on our Giving Day website
- Send in a video about what Free Places mean to you
Making a Gift
How can I make a gift and double my impact?
The easiest way to make your Giving Day gift and secure matching funding is to give online through the Giving Day website.
If I make a gift via cheque, will my gift be matched?
Yes! To ensure your gift via cheque is matched, please contact our team at fitzwygram@hamptonschool.org.uk confirming the gift amount during the match period: Tuesday 1 July at 9.00am until Wednesday 2 July at 9.00pm.
Cheques should be made payable to “The Fitzwygram Foundation” and posted to:
The Fitzwygram Foundation
Hampton School
Hanworth Road
Hampton
TW12 3HD
If I make a gift by stock, securities, or bank transfer, will my gift count towards the Giving Day total and challenges?
Yes! To ensure your gift of stock, securities, or bank transfer is matched, please contact our team at fitzwygram@hamptonschool.org.uk confirming the gift amount during the match period: Tuesday 1 July at 9.00am until Wednesday 2 July at 9.00pm (GMT).
Will my recurring gift or automatic payment qualify for the match?
Yes! Although donors will not be able to set up recurring gifts or automatic payments through the Giving Day platform, they can still set up a recurring donation or automatic payment via our standard gift form (Fitzwygram Foundation Direct Debit). Recurring gifts or automatic payments made during Giving Day will unlock matching funds.
I already made a gift to Hampton this year. If I make another gift on Giving Day, will it count towards the Giving Day total and challenges?
Thank you for your continued support. Yes, gifts initiated during Giving Day will count toward Giving Day totals, even if you’ve already made a gift this year.
Tax Efficiencies
Is my gift eligible for Gift Aid?
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can amplify your donation by completing a Gift Aid Declaration linked here. This enables the Fitzwygram Foundation to claim an additional 25%, from HMRC at no extra cost to you.
Can I maximise my donation by claiming any tax back?
If you pay Income Tax at the higher (40%) or additional (45%) rate you will be able to claim relief based on the ‘grossed-up’ amount of your gifts. With a basic rate of Income Tax of 20%, gifts are grossed-up by multiplying the amount you give by 100 divided by 80. Higher Rate and Additional Rate Relief is given by increasing your basic rate band and higher rate band by the grossed-up amount of your gifts. In most cases, if you pay tax at the higher or additional rates (40% or 45%), your relief will be equal to the difference between basic rate and either 40% or 45%. Find out how you can amplify your impact here.
