Hampton’s U13A cricketers were crowned English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) National Champions after an outstanding victory over Manchester Grammar School in the national final. The showpiece match, played during the summer holidays, saw the young cricketers produce a superb all-round performance to secure the national title.

Batting first against their strong Lancashire opponents, the team posted an imposing 215 for 9. A composed unbeaten half-century from Edward helped guide Hampton to a commanding total and gave the cricketers a strong platform heading into the second innings.

Manchester Grammar School responded positively and maintained a competitive scoring rate, but Hampton’s disciplined bowling and committed fielding ensured regular breakthroughs at key moments. The decisive spell came from Rahul, who returned to claim four wickets in just two overs, including a hat-trick, to seal a memorable victory.

As well as producing an excellent performance on the field, the boys were praised by both the event organisers and opposition coaches for the sportsmanship they displayed throughout the day. Congratulations to the entire squad on a fantastic achievement and a well-deserved national title.
