The annual First Year residential trip to Avon Tyrrell was a resounding success, offering our newest Hamptonians the perfect opportunity to forge friendships, challenge themselves and enjoy two memorable days in the New Forest.
Across two residential visits, pupils threw themselves into a wide variety of activities designed to develop teamwork, resilience and communication skills. Working in their Form groups on the first day, the newest Hamptonians tackled a series of outdoor challenges with enthusiasm and good humour, quickly building confidence and strengthening new friendships.
The second day introduced a competitive element, with Forms mixed together into new teams to take on a range of exciting teambuilding tasks. Earning points throughout the day, pupils worked collaboratively to solve problems, overcome obstacles and support one another in pursuit of victory.
A highlight for many was the engineering-themed trebuchet challenge, where teams designed and built enormous slingshots before putting their creations to the test. Combining creativity, teamwork and a healthy dose of competition, the challenge provided a fitting finale to two fantastic days at Avon Tyrrell.
Supported throughout by their Sixth Form Mentors and Form Tutors, the First Years embraced every opportunity and returned to Hampton with plenty of shared memories and new friendships.
