The Economics and Psychology departments pitted some of their sharpest Sixth Form minds against each other in a big debate.
The objective was for Hamptonians to use their theoretical knowledge from their respective subjects and find out whether Economics or Psychology provides the best answers to life’s biggest questions. Pupils discussed the motion Poverty is an inevitable part of a successful society – the Government should not increase welfare payments.
The motion was hotly contested with Economics theory clashing with Psychological concepts, and incorporated examples from across the globe. All participants dug deep into their subject knowledge and rose to the challenge in true Hampton style. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to stretch themselves beyond the boundaries of their subject and integrate their knowledge in an exciting debate!
