First and Second Year Drama Club members performed a witty and memorable production of The Comedy of Errors.
One of Shakespeare’s most well-loved farces, the story, which is full of slapstick, puns and wordplay, is centred around two sets of identical twins who are separated at birth and the confusion that arises.
The production including thirty lower School thespians, ably supported by a tech team of six, was enjoyed by an audience of parents, fellow pupils and members of staff. It was directed by Head of Drama, Mrs Jones, who warmly praised the young acting team:
We are so proud of the Drama Club. The Comedy of Errors was a really special production as we rehearse at lunchtimes in our club and managed to put together a full performance in the Hammond Theatre in a matter of weeks. The lines and parts were distributed across the cast so everyone had a solo speaking part. This was a true ensemble performance embodying the ethos of the Hampton School Drama Department.
