Hampton’s cross country runners achieved an excellent set of results at this year’s Richmond Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

A team of 20 Hamptonians from First to Fourth Year competed in the annual event which took place on a challenging course in Bushy Park. The race attracts top runners from across the borough and was held on a bright but chilly day with plenty of parents cheering our runners on. In the 2.5km U13 race, the First Year team of Edward, Felix, Kaarthikan, Rahim and Vivaan finished a creditable fifth place, with an outstanding individual performance from Noah, who won the race in style to be crowned Richmond Schools’ Year 7 Cross Country Champion.

In the 4.2km U15 event, our Second and Third Year team of Derin, Isaac, Jiashan, Navid, Oskar, Rafi and Sebastian finished a competitive third place in a very strong field of athletes. Special mention must go to Rafi and Sebastian, who finished eighth and tenth respectively, with fantastic support from the rest of the team. Our Fourth Year runners also put in a strong performance in their 4.5km U17 race, an event which involved both Year 10 and 11 athletes. The team of Alex, Charlie, Harry, Leo, Luke and Oscar finished in a superb third place, an outstanding achievement considering our Fifth Year runners were on a Geography Filed Trip, with Alex finishing a very strong ninth in an incredibly competitive field.

Three of our athletes will now go forward to represent Richmond in the Middlesex Championships which takes place in February at Harrow School.
