The first Cross Country meeting of the 2024-25 season saw strong performances from Hamptonians across the year groups.

A group of 18 runners representing the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Teams travelled to Harrow School to race in the local round of the English Schools’ Athletics Association (ESAA) Cross Country Cup. Competition was fierce and our runners delivered impressive performances in wet and muddy conditions. The top four finishers in each team scored points, which contributed to the overall team performance.

Special mention goes to Second Year Hamptonian Rafi who clinched first place in the 2.5km junior race, closely followed by First Year athlete Noah who finished fifth, a fantastic achievement in Noah’s first ever race for the School. Fourth Year Alex ran well in a strong intermediate field in the 4.2km event, while Fifth Year athlete Marcus finished in sixth place in the 5km race, a phenomenal achievement for the Hamptonian who was racing against athletes two years older than him. There were also outstanding performances from Sixth Formers Sam and Ewan who both finished in the top fifteen of their respective event.

The Senior team are guaranteed a spot in the regional finals, which will be held at Hackney Marshes later this term, with both the Juniors and Intermediates also hoping to earn a place. Congratulations to all our runners and here’s to a great season ahead.
