Hampton athletes from across the year groups put in a series of strong performances at the recent English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) Track & Field Cup and Harrow Athletics Meet.

A team of 28 Hamptonians visited Harrow School for the interschool competition, which involved eight schools from the local area competing in a range of events throughout the day. There were many notable performances, with School records broken and championship qualification times achieved. In the Junior section, Third Year Joe won both the 80m hurdles and the long jump, qualifying for the ESAA Track & Field Championships in the latter event. There was also success for our Intermediate athletes, with School records broken by Fourth Year Marcus in the 1500m event, and Fifth Years Daniel and Jayden in the 200m race and the 110m hurdles, respectively. Our Senior athletes also fared well, with Aaron Mills equalling his School record in the 400m race and Upper Sixth Hamptonian Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid, who is currently ranked the number one decathlete in the UK in the U20 age group category, put in a strong showing in the five different events he competed in.

The day finished with the relay events, and the Senior team of Harry Armstrong, Sam Bond, Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid and Aaron Mills won their 4 x 400m race in style, a fitting end to a successful day of competition for Hampton athletes.

There were also some exceptional performances from our U13 and U15 teams during round one of the ESAA Track & Field Cup. Middlesex Athletics hosted 250 athletes from 13 schools across the region, and the standard of racing, jumping and throwing was superb. We’re looking forward to hearing how our athletes get on during the rest of the season.
