Willy Wonka, Arthur Dent and Skulduggery Pleasant were just some of the literary characters roaming the School corridors as Second Year Hamptonians dressed up in a range of colourful costumes to celebrate World Book Day 2024.

Hairy Hobbits and owlish Harry Potters were out in force alongside super sleuths, Sherlock Holmes. Robin Hood emerged from Sherwood Forest and the Mad Hatter dropped in from Wonderland. Second Years also tried their hand at Gothic writing with award-winning author Cliff McNish while members of staff entered the spirit of the day in style.

Willoughby E won the prize for best costume, after spending the day as Long John Silver from Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic adventure book Treasure Island, with Jonty G a well-deserved runner up with his interpretation of David Walliams’ The Boy in the Dress. Over £170 was raised for this year’s Form Charity partners CARA, the Woodland Trust and The Jamal Edwards Self-Belief Trust.
