Hampton’s cross country runners achieved an excellent set of results at this year’s Richmond Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

A team of 34 Hamptonians from First Year to Upper Sixth competed in the annual event which takes place on a challenging course in Richmond Park, and attracts top runners from across the borough. In the U13 race, First Year Rafi secured a second place finish, a superb achievement in his first outing for the School. In the U17 event, Fourth Year athlete Marcus Solomon was awarded the Gold medal, a phenomenal achievement from the young athlete in the combined Fourth and Fifth Year event.

The senior team also fared well, with Upper Sixth pupil Theo Webb crossing the line in third place, closely followed by his teammate Sam Bond, who finished in fourth place. Seven of our athletes will now go forward to represent Richmond in the Middlesex Championships which takes place in February at Harrow School.

Director of Sport, Mr Carlos Mills, who oversees the cross country team at Hampton, praised the athletes on their superb performance at the event:

Another fantastic performance for our cross country runners at the 2024 Richmond Schools’ Championships.  A win for Fourth Year Marcus in his category, a second for new Hamptonian Rafi and third and fourth place finish for Sixth formers Theo and Sam, respectively  – a great performance by all our athletes!
