Lower School dramatists took to the Hammond Theatre stage in the inaugural production by our Junior Theatre Company to present their retelling of William Shakespeare’s Scottish epic Macbeth.

Skilfully portraying the intricate plot and intrigue of Macbeth, the young actors perfectly illustrated the ominous prophecy of the mysterious witches, leading to the tragic downfall of the Scottish king. Each of the roles was played by a number of pupils, who captured the dark, eerie and mystical atmosphere in the 30-minute production.

Director of Drama, Mrs Alice Jones, who also co-directed the play, praised the young ensemble on their fantastic performances:

SHAKESPEARE REMAINS AS RELEVANT TODAY AS WHEN HE WAS WRITING NEARLY 450 YEARS AGO. BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE AND THE ENDURING STORY, PROVIDED HAMPTONIANS WITH BOTH CHALLENGES AND REWARDS. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!
