Football

A busy autumn term has seen over 250 football fixtures. Congratulations go to the U15s who remain in the Independent Schools Football Association Cup, and to the U16s on winning the Independent Schools Tournament organised by Arsenal FC’s Academy. Well done also to Hamptonians selected for their respective Independent Schools’ Football Association winter training camps: Conrad Knight and Zain Suterwalla (ISFA U18); Sam Ellis (ISFA U17); Ollie Swetman and Joe Turton (ISFA U16).

Rugby

First Year to Sixth Form rugby players have been in action this term and it has been great to see new Hamptonians playing in their first competitive fixtures for the School. Our U15A rugby squad is in the final eight of the Rugby Football Union National Cup competition and senior players put on a strong performance at St Joseph’s College Rugby Festival topping the table on the first day with wins against Trinity School, Croydon; Whitchurch High School; and Queen Elizabeth Grammar School, Wakefield. Congratulations to Current First XV Captain, Finlay Wiseman, who was selected for the U18 England Training Squad at Bisham Abbey. The New Year sees the continuation of the Fifteens season, and the Sevens season commences with the Hampton Founders’ Day Sevens after February half term.

Rowing

Four selected Hampton pairs represented the school at a GB training day held at Caversham Lake. All four pairs performed well with George Buckingham and Harry Oliver (Lower Sixth) winning the event. Hampton is looking forward to hosting the Fours and Eights Head in February.

Specialist Sports

On the Specialist Sports front, all clubs continue to be well attended and boys have enjoyed fixtures across the age groups. Highlights include the U13 and U15 badminton teams winning their Richmond Borough competitions. In table tennis, our U16s won their Borough competition and represented Richmond in the regional championships.

Individual Honours

Upper Sixth Former, Rex Booth was awarded three Gold medals in the 2023 European Acrobatics Championships. The talented athlete competes in the Junior Men’s Category as part of an acrobatic team of four. The quartet was crowned Junior European Champions after the gymnasts excelled across all three of their routines.  Rex is now aiming for Gold at the World Games being held in China in 2025.
