Hampton has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green School Flag for its work on sustainability.

Led by pupil-run Hampton Environmental Society, the School has gradually phased out the use of plastic water bottles over the past twelve months. Clothes recycling is also being encouraged through increased second-hand uniform sales.

The Eco Schools judging panel warmly praised the work of Hampton’s young environmentalists:

It’s very impressive that you have formed such a large EnvirOnmental society. It shows that young people in your School are aware of These issues and committed to being active and creating positive change. This knowledge and attitude has provided your School with excellent foundations for the many successes that you’ve achieved this year.

The Environmental Society plans to build on its success by focusing on more pupil engagement and look at improving water and electricity usage, as well as biodiversity of the Hampton grounds.

Ms Towler who helps run the Environmental Society praised the boys environmentally friendly attitude:

The Eco-Schools Green Flag Award is a testament to our School’s commitment to environmental stewardship. I am confident that our pupils will continue to be leaders in sustainability, both at School and in their community, and we are excited to see what the future holds for Hampton as we continue to work towards a more sustainable future.
