The highly anticipated First Year adventure trip to Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre was a huge success.

First Year Hamptonians spent an action-packed, fun-filled two days in the New Forest, taking part in a wide range of activities designed to help them develop their lateral thinking, communication and teamwork skills. Highlights of the trip included high ropes, orienteering, night walks, archery and catapults. Pupils particularly enjoyed working together to construct their own rafts before setting sail on the Avon Tyrrell lake, with some rafts staying afloat longer than others! Upper Sixth Form mentors also joined in the fun, recalling their own Avon Tyrrell adventure to help the new Hamptonians navigate their tasks. The trip was an excellent opportunity to build communication and teamwork skills as well as to forge lots of new friendships.

Joint Head of First Year, Mr Hill sung the praises of our First Years willingness to embrace new activities;

As ever, Avon Tyrrell provided wonderful opportunities for First Year pupils to form new friendships and learn new skills. Whether raft building, team building or archery, it was fantastic to see them embracing each activity with such enthusiasm and positivity.
