Hampton has been judged to be excellent (the highest possible recognition) across all categories in the School’s latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report.

An ISI team visited Hampton in May 2023 and observed a wide variety of lessons and co-curricular activities; they also met with a large number of pupils of all ages and examined samples of their work. Inspectors spent time talking with Governors, canvassed the views of parents, members of the Common Room and pupils through questionnaires, and reviewed School documentation. They found that Hamptonians’ achievements are exceptional across academic and co-curricular areas of School life.

Inspectors identified an ‘insatiable thirst for knowledge’ among Hampton pupils, stimulated by talented and dedicated subject teachers. They concluded that ‘outstanding analytical and thinking skills’ lead to academic achievements ‘far and above national and worldwide averages’; pupils’ excellent attainment at the ‘highest levels’ in sport, performing arts and co-curricular activities was also recognised. Alongside excellence across the curriculum, the ISI team highlighted Hamptonians’ excellent personal development along with their ‘pronounced sense of acceptance of the rich diversity in society’. Pupils were also praised for their ‘outstanding sense of service which they nurture with great humility’ and for making ‘an excellent contribution to the lives of others both within school and in the wider community’.

The Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, commented:

It is particularly pleasing that the ISI team gained such clear insight into our community’s distinctive ethos, values and culture. This wonderfully uplifting inspection report is testament to our pupils’ remarkable talents, along with the dedication, expertise and professionalism of my teaching and support staff colleagues.
