BBC Royal Correspondent: Sarah Campbell

The Coronation & The Royals

1:00pm – 1:45pm

The coronation of His Majesty The King will take place on Saturday 6 May, 2023 at Westminster Abbey, when the world will witness His Majesty King Charles III crowned alongside The Queen Consort. It is 70 years since the country has seen the coronation of a monarch and the event will be accompanied by all the pomp and pageantry befitting the occasion and watched by millions across the globe.

We are delighted to have the opportunity to hear from one of the key journalists covering the coronation, Sarah Campbell. Sarah has worked for BBC News since leaving university and became a royal correspondent in 2013. In perhaps what has been the busiest royal news period since the 90’s, she has covered numerous royal births, the wedding and departure of the Sussexes, the Prince Andrew controversy and the deaths of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth.

She and her team are currently preparing to report on what will be one of the biggest royal stories of this generation and we are delighted that she is finding the time to join us to share first hand experience of the build up to the occasion, and offer her analysis on the royal family and its role in modern-day Britain.

In addition to royal reporting, Sarah has also covered some of the biggest stories of the last twenty years including the Soham trial, the Boxing Day Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, the Rolf Harris trial and the Jo Cox murder trial and will be talking about how she got into journalism and her fascinating career over the past two decades.

Booking for this event has now closed.
