Hampton’s cross country runners achieved an excellent set of results at the 2022 Richmond Schools’ Cross Country Championships.

A team of 34 Hamptonians from First Year to Upper Sixth competed in the annual event which takes place in Richmond Park, and attracts top runners from across the borough. In the U13 race, First Year Hamptonian Isaac De Quintal finished in seventh place, a superb achievement in his first outing for the School. In the U15 event, Third Year athlete Marcus Solomon defended his 2021 title and was awarded the Gold medal, a phenomenal achievement from the young athlete.

The senior team also fared well, with Upper Sixth pupil Henry Fagan crossing the line in second place, closely followed by his teammates Daniel Clarke and Theo Webb, who finished in third and fourth place, respectively.

Seven of our athletes will now go forward to represent Richmond in the Middlesex Championships which takes place next year at Harrow School.

Mr David Clarke, who oversees the cross country team at Hampton, praised the athletes on their superb performance at the event:

Another fantastic year for our cross country runners at the Richmond Schools’ Cross Country Championships.  A win for Third Year Marcus in his category, and second and third places for Upper Sixth Formers Henry and Daniel in their U20 race – a great performance by all our athletes!
