Fifth Year athletes Hayden Christian, Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid and Aaron Mills competed for Middlesex Schools at the South East England Combined Events Finals held at the K2 Stadium, Crawley.

The event involves two days of competition with day one comprising the long jump, discus, javelin and 400m, concluding on day two when the athletes compete in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, and finishing with a tough 1500m race.

In a first for the School, the Middlesex team comprised the three Hampton athletes and after a series of strong performances across the weekend, Middlesex won the team event and were crowned South East England Combined Events Champions, qualifying for the English Schools’ National Finals which will be held in September.

Hayden finished in an impressive first place after an outstanding couple of days of competition. Teammate Kieran secured second place with some exceptional throwing and jumping, and Aaron came a respectable tenth in a talented field of athletes from across Kent, Surrey, Hertfordshire, Sussex, London and Berkshire.

Director of Sport, Mr Carlos Mills, was delighted with the athletes performance at the highest level of competition:

It really is a great achievement by the Hampton athletes and they have an exciting few weeks and months ahead of them with both the individual English Schools’ Athletics at Manchester and now the Combined Events National Finals to follow in September. We wish them all the very best.
