Lower Sixth Form pupils have created Spare Thoughts, a current affairs podcast looking at the big social, economic and political questions of the day.

The podcast, led by host Jai Saha, is never short of lively debate and topics discussed have included Has Amazon got too big? and US vs UK Healthcare: Which is better? Jai tells us more about how the podcast came about:

My A levels sparked an interest in looking at some of the real issues which challenge governments, businesses and societies. My friends and I were already having informal debates about these topics during lessons and in day-to-day conversation. So, the idea came up – why not record these debates, share them, and perhaps we could spark more discussion between listeners.

Miss Louise Teunissen, Assistant Head of Careers and UCAS, praised the pupils for their hard work in producing the topical podcast:

Hampton boys have been extremely enterprising in developing the Spare Thoughts podcast to allow them to develop valuable communication and teamwork skills. Jai Saha, the podcast’s founder, has shown impressive leadership in managing the group and developing the ‘Spare Thoughts brand’, and Henry Ward has been invaluable in editing the podcast and ensuring professional sound quality. I would encourage the Hampton community to give the podcast a listen and, as the slogan says, ‘spare a thought for Spare Thoughts’!

The Spare Thoughts podcast is now available on Spotify, to listen click here

The enterprising Hamptonians have also created a website for those interested in learning more about some of the key ideas and talking points, click here to access the website.
