James Cai OH (2016) is just one Hamptonian who has been involved in vital healthcare projects in the nation’s efforts to tackle COVID-19.

James, who is in his penultimate year studying Medicine at UCL, spoke to aspiring doctor, Abhi Sundaram, about the challenges he has faced studying Medicine during the recent healthcare crisis. In addition to continuing his medical studies, James has also volunteered his time in the fight against the pandemic. During the first wave, James conducted data analysis and research into the best way to treat patients and in recent weeks, he’s been involved in the vaccination programme, an experience that James has found immensely rewarding.

I’ve been helping vaccinate and it’s incredible. You see 80-year-olds who are dancing, happy to get their vaccine.

James also recorded a careers interview that will feature in Careers Week which begins on 15 March. Fourth Year Hamptonians and above can look forward to a full programme of events including interviews with Hampton alumni and profiles covering careers from the civil service to engineering and from finance to research science.
