Hampton pupils have selected five new charities to support during this academic year: Water Aid, ZSL London Zoo, FC Not Alone, CALM and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.

Hamptonians will take part in a range of fundraising activities throughout the year, which are either year group events organised by the boys or whole School events organised by the Charity Coordinator. These include: mufti days, the summer fun run, the much anticipated Second Year Book Character day, and the fiercely competitive annual netball and lacrosse matches against neighbouring school LEH.

Joint Form Charity Co-ordinator, Mrs Augusta Samuel, highlighted how Hamptonians can get involved during the School year:

There are lots of ways in which you can get involved in Form Charity fundraising this year.  Listen out for announcements from your Form Tutor, and have a think about how you could fundraise at home. We can’t wait to hear your ideas!

INFORMATION ABOUT THE 2020-21 FORM CHARITIES

International Charity

Water Aid is an international organisation focused on water, sanitation and hygiene. The charity works to make sure that clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene are a normal part of daily life for everyone, everywhere. https://www.wateraid.org/

National Charities

FC Not Alone is on a mission to use the power of football to allow men to feel comfortable opening up about their mental health. With suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 45, FC Not Alone aims to help reduce the stigma attached to mental health and in turn reduce these sadly high numbers. https://fcnotalone.com/

CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this. https://www.thecalmzone.net/

ZSL London Zoo needs our help in order to continue to care for and protect wildlife from extinction. Their Zoos are home to over 20,000 animals, many endangered in the wild and they rely on visitors to raise funds. With the Zoos closed, they need help more than ever to continue with their conservation projects and protect their animals. https://www.zsl.org/

Local Charity

Shooting Star Children’s Hospices is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. They support families across Surrey and London from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. https://www.shootingstar.org.uk/
