MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The final blog of 2019 as we enter a new decade. It’s the end of an action-packed, high octane fun first term for our First Years. We have squeezed so much into the past three months at Hampton and congratulations are due to our First Years for such an excellent start to their Hampton careers. There have been sporting successes, magical musical performances, terrific trips and lots of learning! The boys are settling in nicely, having made new friends and risen to all challenges Hampton has thrown at them.

This last week has seen the boys enjoy a Christmas Quiz at LEH, several boys performing in the Christmas Carol Service on Tuesday evening and a visit from Santa during the Christmas lunch yesterday to get everyone into the festive spirit. A special mention goes to Connor H for his impressive reading at the Carol Service and the beautiful singing of the School Choir.

THANK YOUS!

During PSHE this week, all First Years took the time to write thank you cards to someone who has helped them this term, something that is often not said out loud or written and put into words. The joy and thanks radiated around as boys gave their cards to their chosen people during the rest of the day.

Thank you Miss Bedford for being a good football coach.

Thank you to Dexter for being a good friend.

Members of 1L sought out Rabah in the catering team and said a big thank you for all the work he does at School during lunchtime and on Saturday mornings during our sports fixtures!

MUSICAL MENTIONS

A special mention must go to Daniel F, Ian K, Oliver P, Xander B, Freddie L and Falak S for their creative masterpieces sequencing Cee Lo Green’s Forget You on the MAC computers using the loop effect amongst others! You can hear their arrangements below:

SPORTS

What a brilliant term for our sports teams! First Year boys have taken part in a number of different sports, from skiing to table tennis, football to badminton, rugby to basketball – the boys have excelled and shown great sportsmanship.

Last Friday our U12A Basketball team went to play at the Richmond Knights Tournament, fuelled by our Inter-Form Basketball competition. Congratulations to all who played!

Last week our U12B and U12D Football teams had the challenge of playing the U12A and U12B teams from The John Lyon School with strong competition resulting in a win and a loss.

TUTEE OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Xavier B for being awarded Tutee of the Week for his continued kind, helpful and conscientious attitude in the Form, particularly for being kinder to younger members of the School community.

ANSWER TO LAST WEEK’S RIDDLE

A literal answer this time, it was the letter “S”.

RIDDLE OF THE WEEK

What will it be stuffed with
There’s nobody who knows
But it looks like something
You’d slide over your toes.

Merits can be collected at the start of next term from Mrs Halford in the Biology Office. Happy solving!

Merry Christmas from the First Year Team!
