Lower Sixth pupil Thomas Tomlin has been awarded a much sought-after Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.

The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships support young people from across the UK who have the potential to be future leaders in engineering. Sixth Form pupils receive £600 to support their technical courses and have access to a range of opportunities to learn more about engineering, including mentoring and industry-based experience days.

Scholars are chosen following a tough selection process including a two-hour aptitude exam and an interview hosted at a top engineering university and success opens up many enrichment opportunities.

Head of Design Technology, Mr Jason Holdaway, congratulated Thomas on his success:

An Arkwright Engineering Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship of its type and Thomas should be very proud of his achievement. Each scholarship is sponsored by a commercial company, university or professional institution and scholars have access to work experience, support for projects and a personal mentor to help aspects of studies and career planning. It is a wonderful stepping stone to a career in engineering.
