Children from 23 local primary schools immersed themselves in an afternoon of mathematical challenges at Hampton’s Maths Wizard 2019 competition.

Putting their number crunching skills to the test, teams of Year Five pupils took part in five fiendish rounds of maths problems ranging from the Symbols round to the Always, Sometimes, Never round. The competition culminated in a final round of Cross Number, in which the young mathematicians were mentored by Lower Sixth Hampton pupils, and tasked with completing a challenging numerical crossword puzzle.

In recognition of their mathematical skills, each child was presented with a certificate and goody bag by Hampton School Deputy Head, Dr Sarah Hendry. Congratulatons to all those who took part and demonstrated brilliant team work and problem-solving skills. The runners up were Grove Road Primary School (third place) and Latchmere School (second place) and in first place and winners of the Maths Wizard Trophy 2019 were Cleves School. Well done!
