World Book Day once again proved a fun and creative opportunity to encourage reading and raise money for Form Charity. Second Year boys arrived in a range of impressive costumes based on their favourite book. Literary characters who roamed the Hampton corridors ranged from Mr Strong to The Mad Hatter, Mr Toad to Tintin.

The day included creative writing workshops for our budding authors led by young adult author Ruth Eastham, who also spoke to the First and Second Years about the inspiration behind her novels.

The boys raised over £1,000 for Form Charity and winner of ‘Best Costume’ was Seb P, who spent the day as a Flour Baby. Well done Seb!

English Teacher and organiser of the event, Mr Paul Thomas said:

It was great to see pupils getting into the spirit of World Book Day with some innovative outfits. Perennial favourites Gandalf, Hercule Poirot and Willy Wonka rubbed shoulders with lesser-known characters such as Harris from Three Men In A Boat, raising an impressive amount for Form Charity.
