Hampton’s choristers had the honour of performing Evensong in the historic setting of Winchester Cathedral.

The Chamber Choir, led by Music teacher Mrs Laura Oldfield, is composed of boys from First Year to Upper Sixth. Choral Evensong is normally performed by the Winchester Cathedral Choir, however visiting choirs are occasionally invited to sing at this beautiful service.

Over 40 members of the Chamber Choir sang a varied programme of liturgical music which included Noble’s Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis in B minor, Rose’s Preces and Responses and Monteverdi’s Cantate Domino.

Special mention must go to our two Sixth Form organists who led the service, Nicholas Dibb-Fuller and Felix Elliot, who will take up a place at Girton College Cambridge on a prestigious Organ Scholarship.

Upper Sixth pupil, Tom Morrison, who sings bass in the Chamber Choir said it was a wonderful experience:

The professional performance of all the pupils in the choir and the majestic acoustics of Winchester Cathedral led to a truly memorable occasion and was a great privilege for all those involved.
