There has been exciting news for our Sixth Formers over recent weeks, with Hamptonians receiving 80 offers to date from global top-10 universities – a figure set to rise even further before the current university offers round ends. A remarkably impressive 31 Hamptonians have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge colleges across a broad range of degree subjects including Medicine, Natural Sciences, Music, Mathematics, Modern Languages, History and Engineering.

Four boys, Leo Currie, Thomas Hazell, Dara Sanwal and Fabio Rossi, have been offered places to read PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at Oxford, and in doing so they will follow in the footsteps of a host of leading politicians, diplomats and international analysts.

1st VIII Rower and Roentgenium Award (top 1%) winner in the 2018 Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, Oli Bridge, is one of four Hamptonians offered the opportunity to study Natural Sciences at Cambridge, while six boys will read for Oxford science degrees, including Chemist, Matthew Mundy, who wowed audiences earlier this year in the lead role of Bobby Child in Crazy for You, the annual joint musical with LEH. Matthew says he is delighted:

It means a huge amount to get this offer and it is wonderful to see that all my hard work has paid off.  My teachers have supported me throughout and it has been particularly rewarding to share the good news with them.

Another star of the Hampton’s Performing Arts scene, Felix Elliott, has been offered an Organ Scholarship at Cambridge where he will be joined by fellow musicians Nicholas Dibb-Fuller and Timothy Wallace who will study Mathematics and Natural Sciences respectively.

Hamptonians are also hearing good news from a number of other leading educational institutions, with 28 boys receiving offers from University College London and Imperial College, currently ranked 7th and 8th in the world*. Several boys are set to continue their academic studies across the pond at some of the USA’s top colleges. More offers from the States are expected to arrive over the next few weeks, with Football Captain, George Maxwell, already in receipt of an Athletics Scholarship from the College of Charleston, South Carolina and 2018 leaver Matthew Turner heading to Georgetown University in Washington DC.

Once again, well over 90% of Hampton leavers are firmly on track to take up places at Russell Group or equivalent universities in the summer. The Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, warmly congratulated the boys on their achievements:

I am delighted that Hamptonians’ distinctive blend of academic and all-round excellence continues to be so attractive to the world’s leading universities. Receiving 31 Oxbridge offers is a marvellous achievement given the ever-increasing competition for places and we are equally pleased that so many boys have secured offers from other prestigious universities in the UK and USA.
