Hampton’s annual ISSP Science Day welcomed four local schools to participate in a range of exciting and interactive experiments.

The day provided pupils from Orleans Park, LEH, Teddington and Tolworth Girls’ with a fun and informative opportunity to learn about Chemistry, Physics and Biology.

The budding scientists took part in a Chemistry lesson discovering how energy changes in chemical reactions, and a Physics lesson exploring upthrust using the pupil’s handmade hot air balloons.

Biology teacher, Mr Richard Davieson, spoke about his Biology session where pupils investigated enzyme reactions:

In Biology, they were learning about enzymes and carried out an experiment called ‘Foaming Towers’, in which they investigated the effect of pH on the rate of reaction of the enzyme catalase, by measuring the height of foam given off. They all achieved excellent results and thoroughly enjoyed the practical work.
