Oli Bridge continued Hampton’s success in the 2018 Cambridge Chemistry Challenge, his outstanding result places him in the top 1% of the country’s senior chemists, earning him a much-coveted Roentgenium Award.

The annual competition, launched by the University of Cambridge in 2011, is designed to test pupils’ knowledge and takes them significantly beyond the syllabus, with a series of fiendish chemistry problems that would challenge many university students. This year over 7900 pupils took part nationwide, with only 54 young chemists achieving the highest grade in the exam – the Roentgenium Award.

Other Hamptonians also scored highly in the exam, with 14 pupils earning a Gold Award.
