A group of 21 Hamptonians, accompanied by four members of staff, went on the Spanish trip to Mexico over the summer holidays.

This is the first time the Spanish Department had organised a trip to Mexico and it turned out to be a great success, with much on offer culturally as well as linguistically. The group enjoyed visits to Frida Kahlo’s La Casa Azul (the ‘Blue House’) and to the Pyramid of Moon and Sun.

Another highlight was travelling outside of Mexico City where the boys experienced Mayan ruins Chichen Itzá, and a canyon safari boat trip. Lastly, they enjoyed watching a professional Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling fight.

Speaking about the trip Mr Chris Blachford who organised the trip said:

It was a very successful inaugural visit to Mexico with our pupils not just improving their linguistic skills but learning much about Spanish history, art, geography, and politics.

It was very heartening to see the strong camaraderie across the year groups with everybody joining in together to make the most of this exciting trip.
