Hampton’s U15As have finished their season in style, winning1-0 in the Surrey Cup Final against a strong Carshalton Boys College team.

The Hampton side defeated The Ashcombe School, Winston Churchill School and Wimbledon College on their way to the final, which was played at Leatherhead Youth Football Club.

Hampton started the stronger of the two sides, but could not convert their possession into goals until the start of the second-half. The breakthrough came from Alistair B, following a cross by Captain, Shahrya R, which he poked into the net from close range.

Carshalton grew into the match and started to dominate possession and create chances, however, thanks to some resilient defending and a match winning save from Oscar M, Hampton held on to their lead and secured the silverware.

Head of Football, Mr Burke applauded the boys’ perseverance and resolve:

“I am really pleased that the players have been rewarded for all their hard work throughout the season. The team had disappointments in the ISFA and ESFA competitions and have showed real strength of character and togetherness to perform well against a side that has reached the ESFA National Final. Well done lads!”
