The School welcomed over 720 crews to the annual Hampton Small Boats Head. The event, which is a time trial over a 3000m course, saw boys’ and girls’ crews from all around the country putting on some strong performances. It was a perfect day for the spectacle, with clear skies and minimal wind, which led to high quality racing throughout the day.

Director of Rowing, Colin Greenaway, praised the athletes for their professionalism, “All the young rowers should be proud of their efforts. We saw some high-class competition in every category and I would like to thank the crews that took part in this annual display of excellence.”

Hampton entered 70 crews across all age groups and a number of them either won their event or ranked very highly. Captain of Boats, Rory Gilligan and his partner, Matt Hamilton won the Junior Pairs event, meanwhile, Hampton crews finished first, second and third in the J17 Pairs event. Victories followed in the J16 Pairs, J17 Singles, along with a respectable fourth position for the J15 Coxed Quad.
