Despite a spirited display, Hampton’s U14 rugby players lost 26-7 to a strong St Benedict’s School side at Allianz Park, the home of Saracens FC. Hampton began well, but an unfortunate bounce of the ball led to a St Benedict’s winger scoring the opening try.

Undaunted, Hampton were quick to respond, and after a number of pick-and-go’s from the forwards, Tom Tomlin bundled the ball over, near the touchline. An impressive conversion from fly-half, James Benson levelled the scoreboard. The first period continued to be dominated by Hampton, and they went into half-time the happier team, despite the 7-7 deadlock.

After half-time, the opposition came out with high tempo, a difficult proposition for the Hampton defenders and the game finished 26-7 to St Benedict’s School.
