Musicians learn new instruments for charity

DSC_0913Over the course of the last term, Sixth form musicians have been taking part in the ‘Grade 1 Challenge’ for charity. The ‘Grade 1 Challenge’ is to learn a new musical instrument to ABRSM Grade 1 level over a term, without lessons, culminating in taking the exam.

Participating boys and their instruments included Ed Owens and Zac Goodwill on the saxophone, Angus Shennan playing guitar, Thomas Bithell learning the oboe and Rahul Jaitly on cello. Dr Ward also participated, and took his Grade 1 trumpet exam with the boys at the end of the Spring Term.

The challenge, run by L6MW, has raised £832 for two charities: The National Deaf Children’s Society and CATS (Children’s Acute Transport Service).
