Hampton’s Male Voice Choir have been recognised for their donation to London Zoo’s Lion programme.

Hampton’s male voice choir, Voices of Lions, donated the proceeds from a concert held in October towards the campaign and as an acknowledgement of this, their name was set on a mosaic tile in the new exhibit.

Upper Sixth pupil Rahul Jaitly got a sneak peak of the mosaic and the new exhibit, which was funded by the ‘Lions 500’ campaign and opened on 25th March. The campaign was launched with the aim of raising money to build a brand new visitor experience and breeding facility at London Zoo and to support vital conservation work alongside the Wildlife Institute of India and Gujarat Forest.

There are exciting times ahead for the choir. Over Easter, they are competing in the first round of the Choir of the Year Competition taking place on Sunday 17 April at The Anvil, Basingstoke and members of the choir comprise two barbershop groups who are competing in the youth finals of The Voice Festival which is being held at Hampton over the weekend of the 8 and 10 April.
