Hampton’s 1st XV battled the wind and the rain in Kent this week to secure their place in the quarter-finals of the U18 NatWest Schools Cup.
The team shrugged off the adverse weather conditions to produce a convincing seven try, 46-0 victory over The Simon Langton Grammar School, Canterbury.
Hampton, who were narrowly knocked out at the quarter-final stage last year by a one point difference against Dulwich College, will find out on Friday who they face in this year’s last eight.
Director of Rugby, Sean Thomson, praised the team:
“It is always tough to travel away from home in a cup match, and even more so in the latter stages of a competition. The wind and the rain also added to the challenge and so securing a 17-0 lead at half time was reassuring. Simon Langton continued to fight back but we were able to control the pace of the game in the second half and take our opportunities. We are looking forward to the next stage of the tournament.”
