The Hampton and Holles Boat Club’s Association (HHBCA) has challenged all its members to take part in the nationwide #TwoPointSixChallenge this weekend. Happening on Sunday, in place of the London Marathon, the initiative has been planned to help raise funds for charities in the light of the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Raising money for local charity, the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, the HHBCA has challenged its rowing community to complete a physical challenge based around the numbers: 2.6, 26 or 260!

Ed Bellamy, Co-Chair of the HHBCA, explains further:

You could run 2.6 miles, do 26 press-ups, 260 squats! Or, if you have an ergo at home you could do a 2.6k erg either by yourself, or as part of a family relay team!

Captain of Boats, Joe Trevor, has added his appeal to Sunday’s challenge:

Several of our Olympic rowing alumni including: Mike Hart OH (1970), Jonny Searle OH (1987) and his brother Greg Searle OH (1990) – along with History teacher and rower Martin Cross, have also joined legendary oarsmen and women across the country to encourage people to take up the challenge.

The Boat Club have set up a Just Giving Page for those wishing to donate to the Shooting Star Children’s Hospices, a charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

Anyone who wishes can take part in the challenge – rowers and non-rowers!  We would very much like to hear about your feat and please do send in videos and still photography of you and your family in action to website@hamptonschool.org.uk
