Welcome to the First Year Blog!
Another busy and exciting week draws to a close for the First Years, with the approaching deadline for applications to the Lower School Science Fair, and summer sports training getting into full swing. As part of their PSHE lessons this week, the boys discussed healthy relationships, and how they might approach their own relationships with others in future, and had a valuable session on revision technique on Thursday, in which they were able to try out different revision and note-taking techniques. This Friday also sees the U12B, C and D football teams playing a fixture against Halliford, as a happy end to their first year of football at Hampton – good luck, boys!

Science Fair
A reminder that applications for the Lower School Science Fair are due in next Wednesday 5 May! Lucas S-T (1P) gives a bit more detail:
Put your safety glasses on everyone because this year’s Science Fair is here! You can do anything for your project as long it’s to do with either Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Computer Science! You can do it alone or in a small group and anyone can do it! All you have to do is get an entry paper from the Physics department and hand it in by Wednesday 5 May and you’re in! Enjoy!
The Science Fair will take place as follows:

Time: 12:35 – 1:50pm
Location: Hammond Theatre
If you’d like to take part, please collect an entry form from outside the Physics Office and give it to Mr Cook by Wednesday 5 May. If you have any questions, please see Mr Cook in the Physics Office, or speak to your subject teacher in the subject that your project seems to fit most closely within. Arun S (1H) has really enjoyed the reopening of sports clubs, as it has allowed him to return to target shooting school. By the looks of it, he certainly hasn’t lost his edge over lockdown; well done, Arun!

Calling alL LEGO Enthusiasts
Mrs Moore in our Art Department is setting up a new lunchtime LEGO Club which will start in September 2021 and she is appealing for donations of LEGO bricks, boards, pieces or mini-figures. So, check your cupboards, under your beds, on top of your shelves for anything that has been forgotten about and the Art Department will happily give it a new lease of life at LEGO Club. More information will be available at the start of the new academic year.
